    Default Removing shadows in Photoshop?

I'm familiar with some of the more roundabout methods of cleaning up unwanted shadows in Photoshop, but I'm self-taught, so sometimes I'm unaware of the most effective techniques. Can any of the experts share their secrets? I've got a small, (very) dark shadow in front of a person's body that's giving me some trouble.

Have you tried cloning out the shadow? Meaning take a clone sample from another part that would match up with that part and then over lay the clones?
