I don't think the blogging software was the right choice, the whole layout of the front page is messy. I would suggest using some other software.

Change your ad colors.. the text color in the ads is too dull to create interest or curiosity. And change the color of the links from the brownish golden shade to blue.

People do realise they are ad and using such colors would put them off. You have blended it very well. Just work on the link and text colors.

And get your own domain, try using a software like wordpress.

It is a good idea if you make a clearly visible content index of all recipies on the front page. And a search option maybe when there will be lots of recipies. Ads and your content have to be distinguished on the first look , I think.
