Hehe - thanks for the review.
I did make it myself, and you're not the first person to ask if I was selling the script, but I'm keeping it for myself at the moment.
I've had a little trouble getting the website off the ground, but traffic is starting to pick up. I still have a bit of promoting to do though...

Okay sorry gonna be less flattering here. Like the site and design but these were my first views.
1)Damn them balls move fast.
2)Finally managed to click a ball, swore blind it was one of them games "Click Me " move away from the mouse pointer
3) must have clicked the wrong ball cause that site means nothing to me. then again i didnt know what kind of site i was clicking in the first place.

So the point being the balls move to fast, why would some on click on a ball without knowing what it was for, yes the list is at the side but even that is has no real categoristation.

Toughts, maybe color balls for certain theme websites, or even shapes or even float small logos

I do like the idea but think it needs refining somewhat. Personally think it is a a fairly good idea but ppl are gonna clone it better.

Watcha, thanks. As much as I like all of the positive critique, it always helps to get the impressions of people who aren't quite so impressed by the site.

The particle speed is something many people have picked up on - I was hoping that the more particles in the pool, the faster I could set them at. I'll slow them down until I get quite a few more.

The fact you don't know where the links will take you has been brought up quite a few times, and you're the second person to suggest colour coding the particles, something I'm seriously thinking about.

I'm obviously quite worried about people cloning it, how can I protect myself?

Thanks again for the review Whatcha.

What ever you do people will clone it just look at all the million dollar homepages, you only option is to get in their first with the biggest and best. And to be honest you site is just a play on the millon dollar theme with a good twist. Have you thought about whether you would make more money from selling it as a script rather than spending time to try and protect it, which is virtually impossible.
Personally i would sell the script make a quick buck as it is a little unique else if you want to promote your site think it needs a little extra something

I've been approched by quite a few people who were interested in buying the script. Fact of the matter is, there is no script as such yet - I'm working on it and I'm amost there, but at the moment everything is done manually.
I've only created and maintained four websites in my web "career",and none of them got extremely high traffic (in order: 24Transcripts, HumanEightBall, How Was Your Day? and WebPool). As you can see, only two of them even have proper domain names, and none of them get decent traffic, so I still consider myself to be new to the "game".
Naïve as it may sound, I'd like to create a decent website which has decent traffic before moving on and trying to get the "quick bucks". That's why I've decided to hold on to WebPool.
I'm working on a fifth site at the moment which has potential, but I'd like to have WebPool "ease me in", not only in terms of SEO, dealing with heavy traffic etc.., but also just for the fun of running it.
Hopefully you understood what I'm saying in that slightly disjointed post.
Do you think I'm wrong? Should I go for the money and forget about WebPool?

difficult to say really, why can you not sell the script and still run webpool just because you sell the script doesnt mean that you can not develop the site, in fact you could develop the site as the demo of the script that you are selling !

SEO terms you wanna have a word with madkad he seems to be doing good getting this forum highly ranked on most search engine considering he is a new comer to the forum market done very well in ranking in a very small amout of weeks.

Well the more automated the script is the better and more chance of selling it, what code are you writing it in? if it is in php might be able to offer some assitance.

But as i say the way to go may just be to use web-pool as the portal/demo site for the script. You could hit both avenues then selling the script and also still the pool advertising. And yes the market would be bigger in my opion in the pool was restricted to apporiate links, IE other scripts sites maybe, hosting companys, etc rather than just general links, hell you could give a free pool for every link bought, would allow you to increase the script price as it is including advertising.

Hmm me thinks some good information their maybe i should become a consultant

You may be right - it could be interesting to sell the script. How much would you say a fully automated pool script would be worth?
I've already been talking to MadKad and he's kindly offered to help me out with the promotion of the site.

I'm writing it in PHP - thanks a lot for the offer, I'll definitely take you up on it if I get stuck.

Hitting both avenues sounds interesting, but again I'll have to give it some more thought before comitting to anything.

It is indeed good information - glad to see you've done some pro bono for your first consultation!
