free website promotion

I have been looking for a "free" way to promote my site without
loading it with banner ads from banner exchange networks. This is not
as easy as it sounds... however I came across a site where you add
your site to their directory, members visit and review your site and
you do the same. In return your site is listed at a higher rank. I
have been using it for two days now and had 17 visits, and some even
signed up.

Anyhow, I just wanted to share this with others and get some feed back
on it.

This spam appears in at least 62 other groups. Innocent looking, but
spam nevertheless.
