| Dear Sirs, I run a private taxi company (only me and one car) in Bangalore, India. 5 months ago I hired a SEO company to make me my very own website on the Internet, hosted on the reputable and well-known webserver GeoCities.com. They also promised to make me rank within the Top 10 Google searches for "Apuniralak Chandrasekaran City Taxi". Now I do not find my Website when searching for "Apuniralak Chandrasekaran City Taxi" in Google Search Engine. I paid the Company 1500 USD for a one-page website including Search Engine Optimization for the phrase "Apuniralak Chandrasekaran City Taxi". It would be very useful if returning customers who already know my name, or by word-of-mouth, could search this to find my E-mail Address and Phone Number. 1500 USD is a lot of money to me. Would it be a good idea to refinance my home loan to purchase a more expensive and professional service, or did I pay an OK price? Best regards, A. Chandrasekaran | |||

Without knowing prices and how competitive the above phrase is, I think you should not invest more money right now. First tell this group the address of your website. There are no results at all on Google for the search term "Apuniralak Chandrasekaran City Taxi", let alone a top 10. Getting to #1 on Google would take no more than adding that text to your title tag and getting one link from a site already in the Google index. You don't need to pay an SEO to do this.

If your page is on the web, and has even one good link to it, I would be very surprised if it didn't show up very high. Right now, a search for "Chandrasekaran City Taxi" in Google brings up your post to this newsgroup in second place. A search on GeoCities for "Chandrasekaran City Taxi" on GeoCities only brings up a page of chess problems (thanks; I can use that). If there actually is a page, please post the URL. I (and probably others in this group) will see that you get indexed within a few days (maybe a week or two). However, "Chandrasekaran City Taxi" is not a good search term. What you want is to appear high on the list for "Bangalore Taxi". That will be more difficult to boost to the top, > I paid the Company 1500 USD for a one-page website including Search > Engine Optimization for the phrase "Apuniralak Chandrasekaran City > Taxi". If it gave you a top-ten spot for "Bangalore Taxi", it might have been worth it. -- Chris F.A. Most Indian companies would have been able to do what you were promised for USD 100.00 But as indicated, you asked the wrong question. Even if you were number one - as a taxi firm, do you really believe the extra business would finance a home loan? Unless your one taxi is very special, you have been badly advised. How many of the local taxis get much business off the web? How many of your potential customers are likely to use the web for taxis? -- Andrew Editor http://www.seo2seo.com/ First things first - but not necessarily in that order.
