Doing a simple ping test from the UK half the packets timeout. Those that don't report an average time of 420ms. Pings timeout faster than http-requests, but isn't good. Doing a more complex http-ping (i.e. requesting an http server response but not loading any page) I get an average response time of 0.9seconds. That's very much on the slow side. Opening it up in a browser, a menu-bar appeared after about 10seconds, after a minute waiting for anything I normally give up and close the browser. 1minute 45seocnds and the page contents appears. This is too slow. Reducing the number of tables might help (because when the browser encounters a table it won't render any of the table contents until it reads the end of table). It was much faster once my browser had cached some of the contents. The search page seemed quite nippy, so I suspect the problem lies mostly with your homepage. > Besides, I have test the host in some website monitor service company, > and the result is as below. This seems a bit on the high side. I did a view-source, saved the file and the HTML came out at 113KB (plus 16KB for JavaScript, 41KB for images and 8KB for CSS). That's BIG. Don't worry too much about image sizes. CSS and JavaScript, assuming its common to all pages will at least be cached. I'd suggest reviewing how the page is put together with the intention of cutting the HTML size down to say a target of 50KB. That should help the loading times - but still doesn't fully account for the almost 2 minutes to load in my browser. Hope this is useful. -- Brian Cryer www.cryer.co.uk/brian | |||
