Security, Input Validation Help

Hi.

I'm a programmer but no in php yet. For the past couple of months I've
been looking for a book and/or tutorials that explains how to write
Secure php code when filtering user from forms etc. No real luck so far!

I dont mean checking data has been entered or if an email address is
correct or not, but ensuring no sad individual can gain access to the
server by entering certain combinations of characters in a form.

1. Can anyone reccommend a decent book on just php4, without: MySQL, How
to install stuff and various other page wasters. I guess a book about
php4 programming suitable for a programmer that is not looking to do
MySQL apps. Something that discusses how to write secure code for web
applications. My search is getting rather frustation and i would
appreciate your Ideas, big time!

2. Is there a common library or code that people use to
checking/filtering input from anything (Query String and Posts) is ok, As
opposed to someone trying to hack in..?
