| Hello all, I have a little php address book script that I modified from a book which queries a mySQL database and returns a name, address, phone and e-mail address based on search criteria. What I am trying to do is to make the e-mail address appear as a hyperlink rather than just plain text. There is still some testing code which will be removed when the site goes live. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate them. Thanks, Robert <?php if(!isset($query) || empty($query)) {$query = "select * from directory where $tos = '$Name' ";} $query=stripslashes($query); echo $tos ; echo "<br>"; echo $Name ; echo "<br>"; mysql_connect("XXXXXX", "XXXXXX", "") or die("Could not connect to database."); mysql_select_db("XXXXXX") or die ("Cannot select database"); $result = mysql_query($query) or die ( mysql_error() ); $number_cols = mysql_num_fields($result); echo "<b>query: $query</b>"; echo "<table border = 1> \n"; echo "<tr align=center>\n"; for ($i=0; $i<$number_cols; $i++) { echo "<th>" . mysql_field_name($result, $i). "</th>\n"; } echo "</tr> \n"; while ($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { echo "<tr align=left>\n"; for ($i=0; $i<$number_cols; $i++) { echo "<td>"; if (!isset($row[$i])) {echo "NULL";} else {echo $row[$i];} } echo "</tr>\n"; } echo "</table>"; ?> <form action="? echo $PHP_SELF?>" method="get"> <input type = "test" name="Name" size="50"><br> <input type="submit"> </form> </body> </html> | |||

If the email address is a separate record then easy-peasy: $email = "<a href=\"mailto:$email\">$email</a>"; HTH ru | |||
