| Hello, I need to update two html frames (java script number 1 and 2) by one user click. As far as I know this is not possible in PHP, so I tried a combination of Java Script and PHP. See following source code. Further I need to pass the address for frame 1 to the Java Script function "updateFrame()" by a PHP variable. What I tried so far did not work. Can anybody help me, to solve my problem ? Lars <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Title</TITLE> <script Language="JavaScript"> function updateFrame(address) { parent.frames[1].location.href = address; return true; } </script> </HEAD> <BODY> <?PHP $address = 'body_frame1.html'; printf('<a onClick="updateFrame(%s);" href="body_frame2.html">LinkText</a>',$address); ?> </BODY> </HTML> | |||

If it does not work in an anchor it should work in a button.

As far as I know this is not possible in PHP Of course it is possible, and not just in PHP, but in ANY scripting language. You need to update the frameset and have it pass necessary data down to the frames. See my recent post to comp.lang.php: http://groups.google.com/groups?selm...g .google.com and a working demo on my web site: http://ncbase.com/tmp/ Cheers, NC

I did this just last night. The user might click in either frame and I wanted both frames to be refreshed. My solution was to generate some javascript on the fly new page for the frame that was clicked in that has an "onload=" call that changes the document location value of the other frame (frame[0].location = blah blah appropriate location target for the other frame. The nice thing about this method is that is loads just only the smallest piece of script on the client. In my case, I have three frames and the user can do something in either that will require the others to be rebuilt with new content as well as history. If this is not clear, let me know and I will put up a widget on my site that shows how to do this. dan
