Ajax, anyone experienced with it?

Having used quite a few sites that use ajax functions I have to say I wouldn't mind incorporating similar features into some of my scripts. I don't know too much about it. Does it require a lot of javascript knowledge? How difficult is it for an intermidiate PHP coder to get into? Currently my knowledge of javascript is almost zero so it looks like I have some reading to do.

Ajax is pretty cool. It's still quite new. I like seeing it in action, but I guess with what I already use (PHP/MySQL/Flash), I haven't really jumped onto Ajax methods. It does require Javascript, but so does most anything most of us develop for these days. Here's the Wiki definition of Ajax: Ajax Wiki. There are some good references there as well. Do you use any kind of frame work for your sites? I know some open source frameworks are using ajax now. Make it easier to incorporat into your own sites.
