Does anyone know of a good CSS tutorial I could peruse and try to teach my
old mind?

My recommendation is....
A). Ask some "Pure Bloods" (eg. brucie, isofaro, jukka, rf, etc) for a list
of sites that they think are built using *good* CSS practices.
b). Go to those sites and download their CSS sheets and pages.
c). Work out what they are doing, how they are doing it, make some changes
to see how things work, etc.

Tutorials are pretty, but I find this is a good way to learn to.

And though it seems too complex to consider, the reference on W3 is actually
quite good and easy to understand. Lots of stuff you can skim through. I'd
suggest practicing all the things you learn here with a good CSS browser
like the latest Mozilla or Opera, and then later you can learn the
workarounds required to get your pages to look nice on crummy browsers.
