Default The same HTML code > different output?

Is there any diferrence in end result if I put the same HTML code in different places? If I put the code in the body of this post, in signature or in a HTML editor on a website - can I expect the same look of what I've done?

The forum might change it, depending on what it is, but essentially it would, do you have an example you are thinking of?

If I want to put a banner in the signature or in the body of the post on some forum, it is O.K, if I use this form:

[URL***=http://Globalgoldtalk.com/register.php?referrerid=...]
[IMG]http***://globalgoldtalk.com/images/new/728x90.gif[/IMG][/url]
(without *** of course)

but not, if I use this:
<a href="http://www.globalgoldtalk.com" target=_blank><img src="http://www.globalgoldtalk.com/banners/728x90.gif" border="0"></a>

If I use the 2nd form in a website HTML editor, it is O.K..

Forums usually don't allow people to use HTML in posts because malicious members will then potentially be able to mess with the design.
That said, I'm not sure I really understand your question...

Forums use what you call bbcode like

Code:
[url] [img] etc etc
Like GLD says this is to stop people playing, some forums will even allow HTML but the forum will alter the code to change it to bbcode and also will only all part HTML types.

The reason HTML will show in an editer is because thats what there for, but the bbcode will not as it doesnt have lots of scripts that convert the style and layout etc etc........

Yes, I can see now. Simple HTML code for banner (url and link to .jpg) will work, anything complicated over that wont be shown.

A Sidetopic: ASCII codes work here. Look: Hold left ALT > press 0128 on numerical part of keyboard > release ALT - you get: €
