| Hi all, I have a problem with character set utf8 in Mysql 4.1.9-nt and ASP (v3). I had a column in collation latin1_swedish_ci, unfortunately for me, today my boss want to write in Chiness or Arabic in this column. So I have change it : ALTER TABLE titles_products MODIFY title CHAR(250) CHARACTER SET utf8; MySQL is happy ... I can verify with : SHOW FULL COLUMNS FROM titles_products; And the collation is utf8_general_ci, (I think it's ok ?!) But when I create my two ASP pages (<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">), first page is a form with one field and the second page request the precedent field for insert it in my data base. But when I want read my column in MySQL I have "?????" instead of the good words ! Why ? Have you an idea ? Thanks in Advance, Yan PS : Sorry for my English I'm French and I was not a good student at school :-) | |||

| What happens when you make the same query from the mysql client? Does it show the correct information? If that works, then does your ODBC driver support utf8? If so what happens when your ASP code dumps the results to a file instead of returning it to the browser? Does the field you're trying to display have Chinese in it or it is just something that was already there? Can you write something new and does that display OK? | > Have you an idea ? If you use MySQL/ConnectorNet You have problem in connection string .... Client must also transfer utf8 data not latin1 try setting CharSet=utf8 for ex: "Database={0};Host={1};Port={2};Username={3};Passw ord={4};compress=true;CharSet=utf8;convertzerodate time=true" Artur | |||

With ConnectorNET, and NET2 I use 4 languages (utf8) in one database polish ,russian (cyrylica), english, czech ConnectorNet works ok with NET2 and utf8 But MySQL ODBC will start supporting utf8 from 3.53, so we have to wait | |||
