| Hello, I have MySQL v5.0 on my computer. I would like to write some applications in VB that reaches the MySQL data bases. I installed the driver MySQL 3.51 for the ODBC. I want to add, in the user DSN, the MySQL driver in the "Data sources(ODBC) in the control panel". When I configure this driver (server, user, password and table) the system crash (not responding) when I open the menu to choose the database. If I write manualy the name of the database and that I make the test of connection, he says that it is good but the system crash also. I downloaded 3 older drivers, I removed and reinstall MySQL and the result is the same. Result, I don't succeed in reaching the MySQL data bases. My config: Windows 2000 SP4 Pentium IV 1Gb RAM MySQL v5.0.15-nt-max via TCP/IP Driver ODBC 3.51.12.00 port used : default user : root HELP.... Andre | |||

It's a JET security patch. If you replace the DLL with an older version it may work. I found that I could get a system DSN to work, but not a File DSN. Search Microsoft for msjet40.dll or just restore an earlier version. -- Bernard Peek London, UK. DBA, Manager, Trainer & Author. | |||
