| Actually this is based on Commission, this is new product, price is low compare to competetiors. Your comments looks good, how can I get more tools which helps me to do my Marketing and skills. Thanks. [ Moderator's note: *AHEM* Since this thread is not a discussion about the business of consulting per se, the moderators strongly suggest that it be continued on the group misc.business.marketing.moderated where it would be more topical. To that end, I am cross-posting this post in the thread to misc.business.marketing.moderated with Followup-To set to that group. Thanks, and carry on! :-) -JimL ] | |||

Identify your likely buyers by location, business, character? Test your sound bite on us, in this newsgroup. Tell me why I should buy a machine from you? Did you explore the sales and marketing chapter from my site? Wayne http://home.att.net/~impresario/Index.htm

| Hello Wayne, I looked into your chapter about S&M, it is excellent. I identified some electronic stores, I have to go and talk to them about my product, but I don't know how can I get some appoinemnet with big chain electronic shops, like the big ones, also whether I can convence them, I am sure first time it is very difficult to attract them, who have chain shops all over the Country, also I want to sell thi sproduct through some of the popular web sites. You asking me why you have to buy product from me, the reason is, my product had more advanced features than what you are getting from our competetior, also the price is less than what our competetior is offering, what else you want?. Thanks. | |||

Price is a good reason. Features are a good reason. But you must make sure the features are something the customer fully understands and wants. Other reasons for me to buy would be your reputation, your ability to fulfill your promise regarding delivery and warranty, your service after the sale, name branding if any, but most of all a sound proof that your pricing is adequate to cover all the above. You say you want to reach the chains. For this to happen you must be in a position to deliver thousands and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise on a very deffinite schedule and bill them with invoicing where they take 2% off if paid in ten days, or net 30 and you must pay all shipping. So be careful for what you wish, you may get your wish and regret it. You will not get paid until your supplier has been paid, and then usually after a 30 day dealy in most cases. It sounds to me like you have made a deal with a Chinese manufacturer who is trying to get into the US market using commissioned sales reps. Keep writing your impressions... we are here to help. | Hello Wayne, Thanks for your valuable info, appreciated. You are right, this is an Asian company, they have office here already. Again, there are some popular brands are popular here in US, attracting this new brand is very tough from consumer point of view, first of all everybody sees whether this company is reputed or not, customers will think for a minute before buying a new product which they never heard at all. But again, I have to spend some money to get this company popular through some Ads or flyers in local news papers. Other suggestion I need from you is, If I want to be a Distributor for "XYZ" company, do I have to register my office in my State, they have an office in somewhere in North east state, that is their US office, I am just wondering whether I have to register muy own office in my state, that is why I want to introduce this brand. Also How can I advertise this product in cheap way, since I have to put my time, money to make this brand popular, only thing is I will get some commission per product based, could you suggest me. Thanks in advance. Thanks for your time.

Thanks in advance. > Thanks for your time. > Let's say you sell $1,000 worth of merchandise and now you must invoice that customer. The customer must have an invoice to show his accountant at year end for the purchase to be expensed. An invoice must have the name of your company or your name, or the name of your supplier. Now, say your customer is writing the check to the name of the company on your invoice. Now you must deposit the check or cash it and you must pay your supplier. For you to cash the check you need a bank account, or you must go to your customer's bank and cash the check. Not very businesslike! So you will need a bank account. To get a business bank account you need to have filed a Fictitious Name application with your state. Once completed, you give this paperwork to your bank and you are officially in business to deposit and to write checks. But your supplier is going to want to have your resale number and you will need this document when you buy stuff for resale in your state. To get your resale number you apply to your state board and get the permit. If you are a US citizen and have a social security number you can do your accounting on the Schedule C of your 1040 at year's end. If you are not, then you must submit for an employer id number and you will still have to fill out a 1040 to pay your taxes. You will be required to pay quarterly anticipated taxes on your profit from your business and you will be required to make social security contributions as well. If you are not a citizen I don't think you will be able to get a business bank account but this may not be true. You will have to check with your bank. There is no cheap advertising. Your best bet is to walk the beat with a business card and price list. Spend all of your available time in making cold calls, asking for references, following leads, making presentations using your 15 second sound bite. Have you developed this yet? Wayne

In Hawaii you need a general excise tax license, and it can be in your personal name (I do have a DBA as well, but I didn't start that way) > If you are a US citizen and have a social security number you can do your > accounting on the Schedule C of your 1040 at year's end. (I file our 1040 each year, I have a social security number and had long before I got married to a citizen, etc.) You don't have to be a US citizen to have a social security number or to have to file a 1040. > If you are not a citizen I don't think you will be able to get a business > bank account but this may not be true. You may even be able to get one if you're a legal non-resident (it's been a long time since I was a legal non-resident). I wouldn't try it as an illegal <g> (but then, I never have been illegal here). | Hello Wayne, I haven't opened neither my company's Bank account nor registration of my company, I am looking locally if somebody can do all things (I can open my Bank account, I have my personal account, but I have to open my company's account for company transactions), I am looking for some consultant, those who will do these company registration and all. Only thing I am worried is, how can I market this product, one thing is, I don't know howmych effort it is, I fi I want to approach big chains stores like Costco, Walmart, some of them don't have these Computer Networking products, also if I make some cold calls, I don't know howmuch response I can get, do I have to get any license to make these cold calls?. or open Yello pages and call one by one will be better?. This is single handed business, since I can't hire anybody initially, since this is based on per piece I will get commission, Please suggest me Is there any other ways I can market this product. But this product had very good features compare to what available in the market. I am sure, since I know all these technologies for last 15 years. Only thing is I don't have any experience in Sal;es and Marketing. That is where I am weak, I am looking for some in expensive ways. Thanka for your time and appreciated for any valuable suggestions.
