| I offer a free tax and worker's comp review service. We look for previous shortcomings and try to find refunds, if we find a refund we split it 50/50 with the client. If not we don't find a refund, the client pays nothing. I am considering making my job a whole lot easier by employing a telemarketing firm. I'd like for them to call business and sell the idea then fax the business the forms to fill out so that my only job is to collect the filled out forms and proccess their returns. Is this a legitimate request for telemarketers? How much should I expect to pay? What typ of results should I expect to see? Thank you for your help. | |||

Call 200 businesses over 2 days. Make the presentation short and sweet, don't try to sell them anything. Your just looking to get their permission to send them some information on how they can double check to make sure they are not overpaying their workers comp. Then fax them a one page overview and a one page form to fill out. Track how many calls you make, faxes you send out, how many reply, and how many sales you make. Based on that information figure out how much you can pay a sales agent per sale ($50, $100). Contact several smaller telemarketing companies, show them your numbers and see what you can work out. You might be better off going with a "personal assistant" type business instead of a telemarketing company. | One issue is going to be getting to speak with the correct person at that business. When you call them yourself you are probably professional enough and motivated enough to get to talk to the correct person. If a telemarketer calls they might eigher be too rude in trying to find the right person or not persistent enough to find the right person. ~~ Put another way: It takes some skill and professionalism to do this. Telemarketers are probably not that skilled or else to find a good people might cost too much. A similar approach: Could you hire a person you already know to do this. You would have more control over how they make their presentation. Maybe a reliable & professional person that is not working. Someone laid off or maybe a mother that used to be in the business-working world and is professional but is now at home? Just make sure she doesn't have the kids yelling/crying in the background. > > The best bet is to test it yourself. Call 200 businesses over 2 days. 100/day is one every 4.8 minutes with no breaks. Not likely. But the idea is good. You should test this concept out yourself so you know what works and what doesn't before trying to get other people to do it. Let us know what you do and how it works out, I'm interested. Gary | |||
