Default UK 0800 number worth getting?

I'm planning a 5K leaflet drop of the local area to promote my computer
repair business. I'm toying with the idea of getting a freephone 0800
number.

It makes sense that an 0800 number would generate more calls, but nowadays a
lot of people use mobile phones and most (if not all) UK mobile networks
charge for 0800 numbers whereas a call to a 'normal' landline number could
come out of their monthly call time allowance.

what do you think? worth getting? I'm thinking not.

Default UK 0800 number worth getting?

Based only on the mobile theory, I wouldn't do it. HOWEVER, if you can get a
vanity 0800 number, one that would make it easy to remember, I would go for
it. I'm not sure of the number of digits for phone numbers in the UK, but in
the US I would jump at 800-COMPFIX or something similar. Work with your 0800
provider and see what you can create. Then market that number until it's the
first thing people think of when needing computer repair. Create a website
forward of the same name: www.800compfix.com While you may be tempted to
purchase big ads in the local paper, try several small ads. My most
successful campaign was 20 1 column inch ads in a local paper. It was
difficult to read any section of the paper without seeing my ad, and it was
half the price of running a big ad. Make it simple and bold. Put a heavy
border -- about 6pt --around it:

COMPUTER REPAIR
ALL BRANDS
1-800-COMPFIX

You will be amazed at the response.

Good luck.
