online survey participants?

I want to run an online survey, researching the general public. I can set
up a questionnaire with no problem but don't know how to easily access an
online source of voluntary participants (without paying anything!) Can
anyone help please?

There is no free lunch. Unless you have a web site that reaches the general
public you are not going to get the general public to take your survey for
free. You need to either pay to advertise or place your survey on such a
site, or offer something to such a site to get space for free.
