You can still place your products in Yahoo's shopping areas without having a Yahoo store. I think one of the reasons people go with Yahoo stores has more to do with the fact that they are a one-stop ecommerce shop. If you like that convenience and you find their fees acceptable then it would be worth considering. It seems like the bigger issue behind this question is that you are wondering how to increase your online exposure and sales. Maybe you'd like to tell us more about that. The company is unethical on several levels, including their marketing endeavors (they use their software to spy on user activity, for example). The company is one big bloated mess. I'll give anyone credit who can tell me Yahoo's business, mission, or core competency. About the only thing Yahoo is useful for is free e-mail. I know I'm not being very articulate, I'm sorry. Over the past few years my opinion of Yahoo has become fairly negative. Maybe it started when they dabbled in the pornography biz. Ever since then things have gone downhill... If I were you, I would consider the impact of negative image transfer. Geeks generally hate Yahoo, so if your audience contains a significant portion of technically empowered I would be wary. But that's just my .02 cents based totally on gut emotion. Good luck. -Kevin

ROFL Dablled in the porn biz and you want to point fingers at Yahoo about ethics? -- McWebber "Richter points to the lack of legal action against his company as proof that he's operating appropriately." See this link: http://www.afa.net/pornography/pc041201.asp I constantly have to remove that stupid spyware toolbar they install everytime they get a chance. My users seem to install it when they check their Yahoo e-mail or install Yahoo IM. They even install it on all their DSL customers (SBC and Yahoo - now THERE'S a combination from Hell). Yahoo is just an unethical company. They can't be trusted. I wouldn't want to trust them with my storefront, nor would I want to trust the impact of their brand image on that storefront. But, I could be completely wrong... -Kevin

I have started an andale store instead becuase I can use paypal with out having the "paypal stigma". i then signed up for goggle adwords. got a terrible response. I am going to close that down. I think ebay is a far better venue for my products since they are searching for related keywords in my title. Plus I have feedbacks over 300. the biggest problem of being an online merchant is credibility. it is difficult to establish credibility if you don't have hundreds to pay to make professional site. it is also my interest to sell this to clubs and nightspots in large cities. here is my andale store http://stores.andale.com/glowhands

I've been on their www.ebay.com web site several times, but I cannot find any good information on the steps necessary to set up a store. Any thoughts? Pros, cons of an eBay store?
