Money Paid For Focus Groups and Surveys?

Hello,

There are a few Websites that claim to give people lists of
some 200+ market research groups, for about $35, that will
pay a bit of money ($5 to $50 or so) to fill out
various surveys. (paidservicesonline.com, etc..).

This seems to me to be a typical Internet scam.

However, naivity is getting the better of me, and the concept
of market research companies paying a bit of money for people
to fill out surveys is certainly conceivable.

Does anybody know whether or not there is any substance to
these Websites such as "paidservicesonline.com", or I am
correct in assuming that it is just another scam?

If there is any substance behind this concept, can anybody
recommend a specific Website?

I can't speak for this outfit, but I do know that market research
firms do make small payments to focus group members. I've received
several such offers. However, they were all for local agencies.
Typically focus groups are held in person because they are either
recorded or observed. So you would be better off going to your local
yellow pages and looking for market research firms.
