| I am a struggling web designer who has been advised to get some experience under my belt so that I have something to show my abilities... and I have emailed this person and offered to redesign his site for free, with the understanding that I would like to link to it to show my work when it is done. This is what I think we are all here for, to get/give advice and help each other. | Brian, As a copywriter, you will want to address how the goggles work, especially with your type of product. You say that they block out all visible light, allowing infrared wavelengths to pass through. Even with my limited knowledge in Physics (of which I'm sure you know more with a BS in the subject), if you merely eliminated visible then you would not be able to view infrared. One can eliminate visible light themselves by placing a hand over their eyes or by turning off all the lights at night. I'm not saying your goggles don't work, but, if they really do, you are going to want to explain how they do work in your copy to convince skeptics such as myself. Internet marketing is tough in that people are highly skeptic of what they read on the internet. It is engrained into us even at school, where we are told "don't use internet sources!" Newspaper is seen as a much more credible source for advertising. Also, testimonials are a very powerful form of credibility for any product. In one such as yours where the product itself will arouse skepticism I recommend using audio testimonials so that visitors can *hear* real people's testimonials. Armand Morin offers a free one-week test of his audio testimonial service at: http://members.audiogenerator.com/Sp...fo.asp?x=58293 Also, I would move the "About me" and the "As advertised in Popular Science Magazine" text to the left hand side of the screen and move the body up so that the subheading is underneath the heading. It will look much better. Also, you should have some system in place for capturing visitors addresses so that you can email them promotional offers. For more information on all of this, I highly reccomend you visit my inspiration's page, Marlon Sanders, at: http://www.amazingformula.com/cgi-bin/t.cgi/271297 Actually, I know exactly what you need. Marlon Sanders has software called "Push Button Sales Letters" which leads you through, step-by-step, the process for creating a successful internet sales letter. It even creates the HTML for you, gives you several professional templates to choose from and explains the psychology behind it. As someone pointed out it costs 5k for an agency to do this same work and it's only $100 for the software. I use it and it's great. Check it out at: http://www.pushbuttonletters.com/cgibin/t.cgi/271297 I've given you a lot of great advice and a lot to think about here. Let me know how it turns out. -Mark Norris info@metawebnw.com (MetaWeb Northwest) wrote in message news:<bmmnom09n5@enews3.newsguy.com>... > I am a struggling web designer who has been advised to get some > experience under my belt so that I have something to show my > abilities... and I have emailed this person and offered to redesign > his site for free, with the understanding that I would like to link to > it to show my work when it is done. > > This is what I think we are all here for, to get/give advice and help > each other. > > > > > Tyler Hellard <tylerSPAMFREENATION@spincity.org> wrote in message > news:<bml4f601dc4@enews1.newsguy.com>... > > In article <bmk1s6028km@enews4.newsguy.com>, > > mrgoat@bigfoot.com (mr goat) wrote: > > > > > > > Repeat after me > > > > > > > > > > I WILL NEVER PUT SCROLLING TEXT ON ANY WEBSITE EVER > > > > > > > > > > Thank you > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > The site is different now. www.deepredspecialties.com > > > > I want to thank the newsgroup for thier criticism. You could probably get a freelancer > to do it for up to 1k. > -- Listen, you can pay $20 or $20,000 for a site It depends what you want With this site, I would pay for the generation of some orignial illustrations/photography, a nav system, a logo and logotype, a year's hosting, an ecommerce back end and of course a professional copy writer If you can get that for 1k, it will be, frankly, cheap and **** Obviously you get what you pay for If you want to look cheap and nasty, pay for cheap and nasty If you want to look professional, pay accordingly. Buy cheap, buy twice. THis is, of course, all in my humble opinion. | |||

I think $1000 for everything you outlines save maybe the illustrations is plenty. It's not a huge site. The scope of content is rather limited. -- -- Tyler C. Hellard mhm14x9

It's not a huge site. The scope of content is rather limited. -- Well, clearly you don't know what you are talking about then. The year's hosting will cost you the best part of a grand alone if you have SSL stuff. But feel free to pay a grand for all that and get something cheap and nasty of that's the branding message you want to put out. First impressions count. Trust counts. IMHO, as ever.
