Could anyone tell me where on the net I can find these terms
explained? I need to do a marketing-report for my college and have
trouble finding these terms descibed.

Thanks

Hein

Corporate image is the outsider's view of the corporation. Identity is what
is perceived/believed by the workers, management, etc. I was a doctoral
candidate in Management and I studied social cognition which deals heavily
with the self-concept.

You may want to read the books by a firm called "2 dimensions"
advertising agency.
They are true "image" gurus. Look for their website.

Historically, the Corp.Identity Arose from the family crest, used to
identify a family estate.

The Image Arose from the concept of a familys reputation for being
honorable--or not.

I would say that identity is only a part of image, the part dealing with
the physical description and emotional qualities of a companies trade/
service marks.

The main logo (including its name, and slogan) and each sub brand logo
are all facets of the corporate identity system. It Helps you to
Identify that company in a lineup.

The companies image is what the market (including employees) is left
with after being exposed to the companies sum total persona or
personality characteristics.

Image is implied by it's products and pricing, communicated via it's
style, culture, and ideological focus (mission statement) seen at
various media and contact points, including customer service and sales.

A Savvy Corporation usually strives to integrate, manipulate and control
that image at all times due to the enormous amount of financial equity
and goodwill a good image garners.

Other terms to look into and that are related would be a company's mission
statement and their vision statement.

You can find articles about that in the Journal of Consumer research, for
instance: Look up on emeraldinsight.
