Hi Bruce, My recommendation is that you dump the Google keyword program and concentrate on making your Web site as search engine friendly as possible, and do it as soon as you can. We are in a similar boat, selling very specialized products. While this may seem like a bad thing, I think it is a GOOD thing. Your specialization helps you cut through the clutter. We tried the keyword program. It's inexpensive, but we received very few click-throughs. So we redesigned our Web site with just one thing in mind: Lots of good text that the search engines can slurp up. We DOUBLED our site traffic in one month and got lots of new leads. You mention the following important keyword phrases... C++ C++ library C++ library for Garmin GPS Garmin Garmin C++ Library Garmin protocol Visual C Visual C++ c++ libraries development tool .....yet "Garmin" and "GPS" are the only ones on your homepage! Here is what I would do. 1) Remember that Google is your best marketing friend. Go to the Google newsgroup archives, then plug in what you think the most important keyword phrases are for your products. Then rank them in order of popularity. You may be surprised to learn that prospective customers don't refer to the tools you create the same way you refer to them! 2) Give your homepage a new title. This is very important. Instead of "Stemplewski Software", it needs to be something along the lines of "Garmin C++ Library and Development Tools". People aren't searching for your company, they're searching based on keywords that you hope will lead to your company. (Trust me on this, we made the same mistake.) 3) Fill up your homepage with much more descriptive text. Sprinkle the important keywords throughout the text. Use these keywords in BOLD HEADLINES for your products. Take advantage of the <metatag> feature and title your navigation buttons with keyword phrases. Don't overdo it, but take advantage of these free opportunities. 4) Fill in the rest of your pages! There is no news on your News page. Surely you have company news you can put in there, again using those key words! Overall, I think you'll see greatly increased site traffic just by doing these no-cost things, rather than spending money on those keyword programs. Good luck! | |||
