Default Marketing as a Career

How old are you? What education do you have? Are you willing to go to
school for an education? What job experience do you have? Where do you
live? What interests you? What in marketing interests you? There's a lot
of questions like these that you need to answer for us to give you any
meaningful advice. The best thing you can do is give us more information
about yourself. Also, read "[MOD] How to get good advice from m.b.m.m.
v.1.01" before doing so.

However, there is one piece of advice I can give. NEVER be a
behind-the-throne marketing consultant. A consultant that lets their
clients get credit for their ideas and takes the client's money in exchange.
While you do get paid a LOT more than any other type of consultant, it is
nearly impossible to grow your business since you cannot advertise who your
clients are or have been. The only way you grow your business is through
very slow word-of-mouth. Slow for even word-of-mouth. And if you get tired
of being such a consultant and/or just want a change in life for a bit, trying
to get hired as, say, a VP of marketing is also nearly impossible because you
cannot prove you've had these clients without exposing them. So if a client
ever wants you to become this, weigh that decision carefully. It is alright to
do a few clients this way IF they pay your a TON of money, but do NOT
specialize as such a consultant or you'll live to regret it. I know I have.
