Why I have been looking around this site I think I will go a head with making my own little website for fun

but i would like to know what would be the best host to do this with? and could some one give me a little bit more info on what the things I should look for when buying a host?

I have taken hosting from hostgator. Great plan if you have few websites - not one.

better look for some good deals out there and search for google or yahoo for best offers, but remember one things while searching, i.e; pay attention to the details every hosting company gives or their hosting packages, like operating system, web space, BW etc.

Take a look on the SitePoint forums, they have a nice section for webhosting which has some awesome stuff available aswell as coupons for various sites.
