| Hi, I'm the owner of the server this guy is hosted on. Our terms and conditions are very easy to abide by. You must have a website, not a coming soon page for more than a few days, and you must have one text link. In return you get: 200mb space, 2 gig bandwidth and 5x Mysql database and cpanel. loads of other sutff. Stuffmongers.com on more than one occasion failed ot abide by terms and conditions. They were warned on two occasions and given notice of acount deletion if no changes were made within a week. Our server has had 100% uptime for the last month. Is the whole kaboodle down now? > > les Les, following the comments posted in our forums: We're offering a free service here. As implied in the terms it comes with no guarantees or warranties. However it has good uptime. We run this service in our own time, mostly our spare time. If it's down then that's normally because someone is abusing our service, it's not down for very long. I've spent many a night working until the early hours fixing problems and ensuring our clients sites are up. Don't forget this service is free, we literally get no money from this. It costs us hundreds of pounds per month, that's no exaggeration, lie or boast. So it upsets me when someone is malicious or rude to us. Especially after (from what I'm told) they didn't abide by the rules. We don't ask for much. And I feel we've been just in the action we've taken. I'm sorry you feel the way you do but I take exception to your comments. Which I feel are unjust and undeserved. You have two options, You can give us another chance (obviously if you adhere to the rules) You can find another free host that offers more than we do | |||

I just thought it was another outage caused by you guys being hacked again. Look, if i'd wanted to do the online version of disneyworld i'd have paid for my hosting. But i'm just a normal chap who wants a page up with a few links and a few things that interest me and some others. There was links to our ebay stuff, a lightning detector that showed, in realtime, lightning strikes over the whole UK in graphical form updated every 5 mins. ( that has to be worth a page by itself, or perhaps i'm just a sad weather geek! always a possibility! ) a page of information and links about current virus threats and hoaxes courtesy of Sophos, also very current and updated daily. There was a mailto link to ourselves and a counter... just a bog standard page really. I had the compulory link to vagusnet ( vagus? isn't that the name of the nerve in the human body that controls vomiting? worth a google i think... ) on there, plus the optional "earn more brownie points" banner ad.... didn't help though did it? Plus, i couldn't bring myself to join in the chorus of sycophants who were ever so thankful, and i mean creepily thankful, for their sites being hacked, wiped, let back in again, down again... it went on and on. Look, this sounds awful typed out, but we're just a couple who wanted a little page up so we could add a link to our email sig and people could find our stuff, or check out the storms accross the uk, or mail us or look at a picture we wanted to show them, or play a sound file we wanted to share..... i'm sure this is just normal bread and butter stuff. When we got our first domain name we were pretty damn exited, but now i'm just glad to be done with staghosting. Perhaps we wanted too much? that's for others to say... but there you go... that's the way it was, and now i'm looking for a friendly home for a provincial little page... Les and Claire " Edward O. I received this yesterday from another client of yours... "I just read your topic from StagHosting saying you were leaving. I totally agree with you but I can't fine another ****in host. It's stupid really." Les -- http://www.stuffmongers.com "Homo sapiens, the first truly free species, is about to decommission natural selection, the force that made us.... I read but might not have spotted the problem content, if there was something clearly at odds with the T+C. Servers do get trashed and that's something which outsiders do and users need to be tolerant of (and you do keep your own backup, right ?!?!) so it should be just some downtime and the ability to put files back online in a matter of hours/days. | |||

It seems there wasn't enough content for them. No content and not updated... but we were happy with it as it was. No need to update, it did all we wanted......... yes, we have it backed up...... ready to go.....
