I might want to upgrade in future, if so, then that is the time to ask for payment details, there is no need at this time. It's a lot of trust to put in you. It's the "three month" thing too. What happens when that's up? Do you start charging unless I renew my free status? Plus, you ask for an awful lot of contact information. You could get all you need from my domain registration. Your sign up raises many questions, asks for a lot of trust straight away and leaves me inclined to turn down your kind offer..... The order/account setup software (ModernBill) that we use doesn't appear to give a way for us to offer free accounts unless we specify "3 months" any other term and it wanted to charge .333333. I assure you, the account is free for as long as we offer free hosting...which has been a very long time. We don't store credit card information on file, even for our paying customers. Any information submitted for payment is sent straight to the bank. I'm not sure why ModernBill is requiring that you submit your cc info for a "$0" charge...but I definitely will look into it and post back when I find out. On another note, thanks for alerting me of this. It did seem a bit odd that we've been heavily promoting our free accounts and have yet only had MAYBE 6 signups. I'm thinking if the order form is asking for cc info...that would be a big scare factor. I know it would scare me! ;-) --Tina

I'm not adverse to online commerce, we are users of E-Bay and shop online quite a bit. But caution is our watchword when it comes to giving out our CC / pesonal information. It's strictly on a "need to know" basis. If you do manage to sort it out please let us know. I'm sure if you have a quick, easy sign up for you frre account it will act as a gateway to your pay plans as peoples needs increase away from the basic free hosting package. Perhaps if you stick to the info available from a domain whois search you'll do better. In fact, it would be a good way to a, collect information about your customers and b, confirm identity. keep us informed...... Dave (our admin) is actually working on modifying the way ModernBill (the software that handles our orders and account setup) so that the order will just go right through without requesting cc info. Hoping to have that change done sometime in the next several hours. We're thinking maybe sticking "check/money order payment" as the default will just let the order go right through. I'd like to stick with ModernBill, for now, because we literally have 1000s of customer records in there already. ![]() --Tina -- http://www.AffordableHOST.com - since 1997 Cpanel hosting starts @ FREE for life Multi-domain hosting starts @ $5.95 mo. Your customers don't choose which server you put them on, you do. --Tina
