| I am new to this webbuilding business. With my limited knowledge I found Yahoo's offer attractive. Could all you old hands advise the pros and cons of signing up with Yahoo, or are there better alternatives? Any help/comments will be most appreciated. By the way I want to built a website for a small business. Regards. Timmy | |||

A small business is likely to want its own domain name. I don't know anything about the Yahoo! setup and whether you'd get some URL that mentions Yahoo! (or a banner or similar) but you'd maybe do better looking at www.budgetweb.com (I have used it off and on for a few years to find low cost hosting) and/or www.nameroute.com (not my site - I've been a customer of www.nameroute.co.uk) but also you may find hosting and domain rtegistration for as little as $9.99 a year (on Ebay - I've also found bargains there). I know this is off topic for alt.FREEwebhosting but if the website is for a business user, then their own domain and webhosting (rather than frames to some free webspace) looks far more professional and has advantages with search engine listings too (a whole new story). | Yahoo webhosting should be reliable. But not sure how personal is their support. Maybe you can try go www.WebHostingTalk.com There are many webhosting providers there. Just state your requirement, you will get a bunch of cheap hosting offers. I recommend you to do some research to find the webhost's reliability. Some are cheap and provide low server uptime. Some are good but price will still be reasonable. If you want to register a cheap domain, i recommend you to go http://domain.RackShack.net, you can get it for $5.41 per year (.com/.net/.org) RackShack is a reputable company in my opinion. Or you can try www.NameCheap.com, register domain at $8.88 per year. In addition to the above sources (self-advertising here), you might want to take a look at www.NeonHQ.com "tim" <timmymay@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:f7ba8f8.0309092319.2a31b9ab@posting.google.co m... > I am new to this webbuilding business. > With my limited knowledge I found Yahoo's offer attractive. > Could all you old hands advise the pros and cons of signing up with Yahoo, > or are there better alternatives? > > Any help/comments will be most appreciated. > > By the way I want to built a website for a small business. > > Regards. > > Timmy

In that case I'll recommend you visit http://www.fateback.com and check out their hosting. Its free and far more reliable than other free web hosting providers. | I can't tell you anything about Yahoo but I can tell you...do not use Hostmyweb.net (in Toronto). I had to renew my domain through them but did not renew my webhosting through them because of poor service throughout the year. Because of this...they took my money for the renewal of the domain...promised to sign me up and disappeared. When I finally got through to them they said they hadn't received my money although one of their employees said they've received it and would be processed immediately. If it wasn't for CIRA(Cdn Internet Registration Authority), telling me that I had to renew through them because of a previous problem...I would have never dealt with them at all. Also, they offered a free domain when I signed up which they never came through on. Now they don't return my calls or answer my email. Great Service. Altogether they ripped me off for about $80.00. I'll probably never see that money but if I can stop someone from signing up with them...that's reward enough for me. Good Luck Rob "tim" <timmymay@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:f7ba8f8.0309092319.2a31b9ab@posting.google.co m... > > Regards. > > Timmy
