If his question was about Yahoo Geocities' reliability, it's reliable alright. But the problem is not the reliability - it's the annoying ads that are.

Sure, they're slowly making a transition to text ads, but their text ads are floating ads that require you to close them when they overlap on objects and text on your page.

If he was talking about Yahoo's search capability, it is reliable, and I use it in tandem with Google when I look for something. Their new audio and video search is also handy.

From what I've seen of Google's page creators, they're not worth trying. Put in a little effort, learn some HTML and you can create a pretty decent website.

Yes they are just templates that you change slight styles, they are just doing a yahoo, as when you have made the page they give you a subdomain and this is pointless!!

Yes, they're pretty much 'templates', but what I am looking forward to on this is text-ads-only free subdomains. I'd personally prefer that over what Tripod / Geocities / Angelfire offers.

Plus, there's the potential of a better pagerank...(?)

Assuming that you were referring to Geocities...

A lot of people hate Yahoo Geocities, and so do I. Their ads are just plain annoying. I haven't tried their paid hosting personally, though. But I've heard a lot of good hosting suggestions that do not mention a bit of Yahoo, so I think you should browse further through this site and listen to some suggestions here.

I'm sorry, candybee, but which person are you referring to and what was that hosting company?

Perhaps Yahoo hosting is reliable. But in the name of competition, I'm sure there are other hosting services who have equal or better reliability at less the cost.
