Interested in a Website

First of all, I know nothing about internet hosting, web pages or any of that stuff, im a hardware and gaming buff. Anyhow, I am interested in starting an online store for computer parts and services. I am just interested in what I would need and how much it will cost me. Another question I have is about advertising, for instance, how do I make my website come up in a google search??? I have other questions about all of this, I'm just too new into this area to know what to ask lol, is there anyone who can help me with this?? A sort of generic tutorial for beginners, would be nice. Do I need to hire someone???

Bit like how long is a piece of string, can only answer in short queries, basically for a website you need

Domain Name, i.e.www.yoursite.com (small expense)
Hosting -Space on the internet to host the files, Various options available basically for a retail site you will need a hosting account to support databases and either PHP/ASP depending on what language you site will be written in.

Web Site - You will need to code a website or use a free site package or hire some one to do it.
On a personal note i gave provide a service/guidance for all the above.

In terms of advertising and google probaly best posting in the seo and google section. SEO bit of a black art in my eyes. But to place adverts in is fairly easy and whether u use a code or a package as above this will be included to an extent.

So to be so short in the explantion just could write a book on bits of it .

Making your own website and getting the idea on what you are after isnt as hard as it seems, there are lots of easy ways to get there and lots of hard ways.

I have to say when I first started I thought it would be like opening a shop where once you are done and open people would come in and buy, but wow how wrong was I there are 1000's of websites starting up every day and they give up within the first week as people just dont relise what hard work is involved in running a website.

Sorry to say but any one can get a website up and running whether it is in a day or within a year, but its when it is up and running where the skills have to come in. Me my self have really spent the min on all my websites but there are lots of people that spend lots of cash on there website and still get no where.

To me you dont have to spend a masive amout of cash to get some where all you have to do is make a pro looking website have good customer service and make sure you learn stuff like marketing and to me SEO is a big help.

There are lots of ways to advertise, but they dont all work and at the end of the day people will not tell you what worked for them and what didnt the main reson for this is because they worked hard to find this out for them selfs, one good tip is this

I find yes thay work hard and take all the work from you, thus giving you alot of time to work on other things.

Any questions about SEO I will help you and any one else that is intrested, if you dead set on getting a website off the ground then you are at the right place as I will let out what I think is good and not and what works and what doesnt.

it doesnt really matter how much it is a month, i just want it done right .... i dont know what a fair rate is for a hosting service, but im in the united states

SEO stands for search engine optimization, all this means that you optimize your page for your selected keywords on page optimization this helps you rank higher within the search engines like google, Yahoo and MSN, there is also of site SEO this is stuff like getting links pointing to your website on other related websites and having your main keywords within the link.

There are lost of things you can do in SEO good and the bad, bad things are like hidden links and these can get you banned from the SE’s (search engines) like google etc etc.

I have started doing a full step by step SEO tutorial on the main site that will show you all the tips there is for SEO on site and off site its for our xbox 360 website that we are building so the tutorial is getting written as we go along to show how its done, if you take a look then anything you have any questions one please say then I can help you out and also go back over the tutorial and sort that section out so others can understand.

Free for 2 years yes. I would insist on using a particular hosting when setting the site up so that there are no nasty surprises when the site is set up.
