Have you ever had a forum on a free host whilst you set up the rest of your site, or decided which forum software to go with? Was there a particular one that you liked?

I like the sites which use simple machine forum. You can configure it to your liking. Invision free is also another good forum provider. Their Administrator control panel is very advanced. | ||

Yes, SMF is decent for a free forum-however it's free software rather than free hosting. You'd have to have the hosting already lined up to be able to use it.

I use smf with it modded. I reccemond installing smf with fantastico in cpanel. I couldnt use smf how it is default. | ||

Yeah, that is a MOD though. Forgot to mention, AEF is probally going to be a very good forum software! They have an awesome start!!! | ||

What is AEF? It's not a forum that I've heard of before. SMF is great but as mods go there are a lot less than for forums like IPB. IPB is about the most versatile there is I think, but it costs you the earth.
