Default Suspicious Web Hosting...

I don't know if it's paranoia, but recently something came to me:

Why the heck does Atspace.com sound too good to be true?

You got unlimited traffic, FTP capability, and almost everything else short of a custom domain. NO ADS at all, no banners, nada. Not even text ads. Just straightforward hosting.

I'm beginning to wonder how they profit from all this. Anyone got any idea? I'm thinking it could be the massive amount of spam I receive in my inbox, but that can't be the way they profit?

"Unlimited Traffic" (like klass koopman said) does not exist. Bandwidth costs money and free sites dont generate much money. You will either get a very slow connection, problems with uptime, or very little actual bandwidth (250mbs).

I would also like to point out that the "No banner ads" is not true as they include small banner ads on all your pages through codes within their servers.

They also do not support any other scripts other than basic HTML and Javascript.

I guess that answers your question, dude. Besides, as old people say... If it's just too good to be true, it probably is! XD

Paid hosting is still the best way to go. It's just the question of picking the best one.

Have you tried this, Thisn2s? I think this is a good free web hosting service. Not only because it is free, users say it has no forced banner ads and no bandwidth limit. Also, the URL is either a domain or a subdomain. This is the only free hosting service that offers that. I suppose this one is worth trying.

If I remember correctly, I've seen a bunch of sites hosted in Atspace, and most of them are business-oriented sites. Some are even promoting those get-rich-quick programs.

Wondering also how the heck they make profit out of their hosting. It probably IS unlimited traffic, but the traffic is so slow there that you'll suddenly feel you're in 56K land. I've seen a lot of ads on these pages too, but what do I know? They could have been put there deliberately by the hosting clients themselves for profit.

Sounds too good to be true to me, also. I don't know, they have to be making money somewhere!

You will find that hosts offer unlimited bandwidth, file upload, databases etc etc, but if you look in there terms they will say something that will stop it from being unlimited, ok they will mostliky let there customors have lots of access but never unlimited all they will do is close the account when they think its getting over the top.

There is one great proven tool available when deciding about "join or not to join" a site or hosting. It's feeling. If you have bad feeling about even extreamly popular and site - it is just good if you don't join. Someone will maybe find this thought as naive or useless...if you ask me, it helped me a lot. I was spared of so many dissapointments just because of listen that: don't...or...do it...
