Yes it play a good role in SEO,
And yes again it would be better if you did it manually.
doing it manually will help as if you dont not all articles would get submitted and become a waste of your time, also if the websites owners find out they could ban you from using there website and this meens your resources would go lower![]()
I do this mainly so that I can try and get some traffic. Must admit though that I don't think it is a good source for traffic as it is a hit and miss if your article will get on a high traffic site or not. I have got 1 article on a site though were I get around 40 - 80 uniques a month from that one site, so I guess I had a hit there for one of the articles.

HI guys
Article Submission is one the great ways to bring traffic. It has proven to me and certainly very helpful. However there are many automatic Article Submission in the market which I advise not to use. Its will destroy the website. Writing Good content article and changing 3-4 times while submitting in the Directories will be very effective.

In my experience, I only use the article submission method to get indexed quickly, and it works !!!.
But I think it's too much time just to get traffic from them, guess it depends on the site.
Manual article submission is a pretty good method for traffic.
