Getting your website in Yahoo! Directory for free, I read this all over the net but has any one here done it or know of any one that has done it

Is that possible? I think they make you pay.

I have seen people say it can be done I have even seen it on websites, but if its true or not I really don't know sorry

But I wounder why people would say about it, would any of you pay to get in there?

^ It depends if I would pay or not. If I really wanted my website to have a lot of publicity then I would but if I didn't mind then I obviously wouldn't waste the money.

I didn't pay and I got mine listed. Go to Yahoo homepage and on the very bottom Left-hand corner there will be a link that says, "How to Suggest a Site" and then once there, click the first link entitled, "Submit Your Site for Free:" It worked for me although I had a number of backlinks. You see, backlinks make it harder for the crawler to miss you or accidentally skip over your site.

Lost me on the back links bit do you mean more to your website is better of the ones from your website are not good if there is alot pointing to other websites

Backlinks are links from other sites to your site. Links from your site to other sites do not help your SE ranking very much or even at all. If you can get other sites to link to yours, it makes it harder for the SE to 'miss' your site (it crawls thousands and millions of sites a day). If the SE finds links to your site all over the web, it will want to come visit your site and index it.

You don't have to pay to get listed in Yahoo, although I seem to remember they do have a pay option. I think it just means your request will get processed quicker or something similar...

they mean the yahoo directory not the search engine GLD
