Default Windows Desktop Search - Indexing is starting. Please wait... problem

A PC is part of a MS Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition domain. WDS
defect affects only one domain user. It happened after Windows had some
problems with loading this user's roaming profile once and used a
temporary one.

Every time this user logs in, the WDS states that "Indexing is
starting. Please wait...". Only rebuilding the index for this login
session would make the WDS to start working again. After logging out
and back in again the situation repeats itself and WDS hangs on at
"Indexing is starting. Please wait...". Exiting and starting WDS again
does not help. Uninstalling and installing again also does not help.
When alternate-clicking the icon in the taskbar "Snooze Indexing 1
Hour" and "Index Now" options are greyed out. The main WDS interface
window states "Windows Desktop Search isn't running. To start it, click
the Start menu, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Desktop
Search".

I would really appreciate your help.

Regards,

Jack

Sorted.

The domain DHCP server was down a few days ago and the router's one was
used for the time being to enable the Internet connection. Then the
DHCP server on the router was not switched off and PCs were using it
rather than the domain DHCP. Once it was corrected the Windows Desktop
Search started to work again (crashing once after first login, but
working OK after the restart).

DNS settings need to be checked twice (run netdiag and look for
problems there).

Here we go. I was happy too soon. It stopped working again (in the same
way as before) and now I have no idea why. Anyone can help?
