Thanks for the reference.

Which PDF iFilter are you talking about?
The one from Adobe?

Downloaded and installed Reader 8.0.
Did not notice anything on iFilter :-( :-(

Then I search on Adobe's site and I did downlaod iFilter 5.0.
It's avaialble there as a single download (iFilter50.exe)

Then in the Adobe download directory on my HDD I detected
"iFilter60.exe" downloaded in September (during the OneNote Beta where
I had installed the needed component WDS 3 [all betas, one after the
other]).

Now I'm totally confused [siiiigh].

Rainald

I've probably confused you, sorry. When you download and install Acrobat
Reader v8, the ifilter's automatically installed. If you've installed v8 then
WDS should be indexing the contents of your PDFs.

No need to be sorry - to the contrary:
You showed the way to a most important feature of WDS 3.0.
And to a feature which is important for my daily work !!!

The way you posted the good news (subject and link only without any
explanation <!!>) was confusing, but in the end it's the *result* what
counts.

I for one gained functionality of a sort that I had been dreaming of
for quite some time (oder better say: years) !!

That's what I did not get to understand initially!

But it works.
Better than I'd ever thought.
Seems that I should uninstall the Adobe iFilter 5.x.

The "preview" for PDFs in the WDS dialog is really great and offers a
lot.

In the past I had used Acrobat's indexing feature to get at my most
needed documents.
But now it's built-in in WDS.
Simply fantastic.

Thanks again

Rainald
P.S. If I may take the liberty of having "one wish free":
Pleeease be a bit more verbose when in the future announcing such kind
of good news

Hi:
Do you think this approach could work for a SharePoint Search Service on
Win2003 x64 platform?
