Default Drive D: not on Location List

Using IE6. Installed WDS 3 and tried to add drives D: and E:. Drive D: (my
data drive) is never offered as a possible location for indexing. As far as I
know, it is a normal drive. How do I et WDS3 to recognize and index it?

I think you can configure drives/paths to be indexed only as an
administrator in WDS 3. Furthermore, in contrast to previous versions of
WDS, you also have to set the attribute 'To be indexed for fast seach' (I
don't know the English text, in the German version of Windows it's 'Inhalt
für schnelle Dateisuche indizieren'). This attribute was used before only by
the Index Service. You set it in Windows Explorer with right click on the
drive/folder/file -> property. On the first tab page you find in the last
section Attributes, there is a button Details.

Many Greetings
Michael

Vielen Dank, Herr Zöllner!

I did all of the things you suggested, but there is no difference. Drive D:
simply does not exist for WDS3! (But Drive E: DOES exist...)

Strange...

Tschüss

(Eich....")

Was it very difficult for you to enter the 'ö'? ;-)

One more idea, is your drive D: not NTFS formatted but FAT/FAT32? In this
case you need to download a protocol handler for WDS3 at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Much luck
Michael

Leider, but the D: drive is NTFS already...

Certainly has me buffaloed. (Strange phrase!)

(BTW - I use the United States-International keyboard set and it requires a
" followed by the vowel to make an umlaut. I write to my German cousins
often! An S-tset is harder - particularly in this forum...)

Thanks...
