Default Problems with Desktop Search 3.0

I installed WDS 2.65 and set it to idex my Outlook 2003 folders and
some disk directories. It worked perfectly. Then I installed WDS 3.0
and now I have issues.

Outlook folders are listed in indexing options; only Outlook Express. I
have tried: uninstall/reinstall WDS 3.0; Detect/Repair in Outlook;
check for disabled items in Outlook.

Several options available in 2.65 seem not to be available in 3.0:
Index Email Attachments
Index While on Battery (which I would like to uncheck)
Prioritize Indexing
....and any way to see the current version

The handling of File types is quite different so I am not certain but
there seems to be remvoed functionality here as well. 2.65 had lists of
file types to "index as text" and to "not index". 3.0 has a checklist
of file types and "how should this be indexed", "properties only" or
"properties and contents". I wonder if "index as text" is now assumed
(for types such as .cpp) if "properties and contents is checked.

Finally, I note that in 3.0 my File Types list ends with .asax, which
is of course woefully incomplete and perhaps which explains my main
problem, with not seeing Outlook 2003 as an option.

Anyway WDS 3.0 is useless to me so unless I can get some resolution to
the main problem I will have to try going back to 2.65.

TIA...
