| This is caused by having a previous version of WDS installed (2.x) and upgrading to 3.0. Basically the older control panel applet and some other binaries are left over in the WDS program files folder. I ended up looking at a box that never had 2.x installed to figure out which filed needed to be deleted and deleted them off the upgraded box. Rebooted and the old control panel applet was gone and thus the warning messages are gone. I believe 2.x doesn't properly uninstall itself. The 3.0 control panel applet is called "Indexing Options". The 2.x one is called something else and doesn't get removed when uninstalling 2.x. I'm guessing for 3.0 they backported from Vista instead of evolving 2.x into 3.0 which explains the main differences between the applications. Now if only I could figure out why when trying to search the web IE7 just displays: http:///?%20search%20query in the URL bar instead of actually displaying the search results... | Well, I saw that in the meantime Microsoft released a maintenance release of 2.6. So I ended-up upgrading to it. Is-it enough to simply after uninstalling 2.x to deleted the program and index directories? | |||

| NK3 shared these words of wisdom: > Well, I saw that in the meantime Microsoft released a maintenance > release of > 2.6. > So I ended-up upgrading to it. You are aware of the fact that some Office 2007 applications (Outllok and OnNote) need 3.0? Rainald | |||
