Personally I'm not convinced prettier design will have too much of a positive effect on your google earnings. Although it might make people a little more likely to return. Content is far more important.

Well personally I believe the PRESENTATION, i.e, the look and the feel of the site influences people about 40% atleast. And if you dont have a pleasant site, most ppl would just walk away!

So first have good presentation and then work on the content

Yes some to extend and if you increase your pages then the users will have to cliks many times on your website

why will the users click? even if its the best content in the world presented in a shaby way.. ppl wudnt be interested... and ppl who liked the content, wudnt become returning visitors..

As for improving your clicks. There are many posts in this forum to help you on that.. just look around.. and also check out the google heat map.. which shows the best place to put ads.. and also if u have images abv ure ad it increases click ratio..
