| You may have heard that Ebay ended it's US Adwords advertising with Google a few days ago (http://www.siliconrepublic.com/news/...id=single8566). They've been at each other's throats lately over online order processing, with Google even organizing (then canceling) a protest for Ebay not letting Google's payment run alongside Paypal. Well, I was searching for an image of a plain white van when I typed "white van" into Google and noticed something strange. No Ebay motors anywhere near the top of Google's unpaid rankings. That's odd, I used to see them up there all the time in the non-paid results. Well, I have long suspected that Google drives the search results to the pages that they want more than we know. But, seeing the results for the "white van" search convinced me even moreso. Although Ebay and Ebay Motors are 2 of the most viewed sites on the internet, they are nowhere near the top of the search results for "white van". Maybe it's just my paranoia kicking in, but I think Google is punishing Ebay - and us along with them by delivering less than honest results in our searches. If they are, what other results are we getting that are skewed? Has anyone else seen any other searches that would make you think that Google is being slightly less than honest in its results? jim | |||
