Directories is a funny one you have to aim at your off site SEO but still aim at people woundering about your website, also if your site gets listed in the catergory with alot of listings then you lower the % of getting clicked

My traffic is very specific because my site belongs to a close niche but I can add my 2 cents to this. Most of my traffic comes from one-way linking. Google does a good work in providing me traffic too but mostly it comes form people who have visited the website, like what they see and recommend.

I still believe there is no better publicity than providing your visitors with an honest and realiable service. There is no stronger publicity than quality.

Yes, always create a website with content - one that people want to stay on the website and rejoin.

There are enough of useless website's on the internet allready just out to make a few bucks.

Yes good content filled websites will always do better than these repeated copy sites that are just set up for cash making

Find the relevant subjects on wikipedia.org and put a link to your site in the external links section. As long as your site is relevant it should not get removed and you can get some traffic from it. imdb.com forums is also good if your site is related to any particular movies or actors etc. They all count as back links too. Just don't get carried away and spam loads of different sections.

I get most of visitors from forums.

Big Boards is searchable by topic, keywords, language, # of members and type of the script (!) Only 1885 forums listed though :-D

To ad a link in Wikipedia is a great idea. There is all arranged by categories, it's sure that only interested people will click on your link, if you ad it there. This is like adding link in Yahoo directory, lol, Wikipedia is a huge site.

Well for me it’s a wide range of sources. As you know I have a forum and get about 100 unique hits a day form Google alone. I then pick traffic from link placements I have picked up and also being added to resources lists.
