You can add META tags, and adding to directories is easy look at some directories and try to add as many as possible.!

Minxy take a look in the directory section there are free ones there and just give it ago, select the catorgory you want your site in (related to) then find a link saying add site or suggest a link

@Minxy - if you really want to know how to go about doing some basic SEO, I would probably suggest you to visit www.seomoz.org from where you can get a lot of useful information. There are a lot of other sites also to learn SEO but you can get started with this for now.

Mark, Seomoz is great, i would like to add http://www.seochat.com/ once you get your hands on SEO, you will find many tool which would be helpful for you.

Minxy just be carefull as you might find that alot of pro's think that giving there so called unique strategies out is aeasy way of them making cash, remember that SEO is FREE and allways will be, just learn it

Point to be covered while performing Search Engine Optimization for any site.
Directory Submission: The URL of the site is to be submitted in different Directories on daily basis.
The major directories are DMOZ, Yahoo, and MSN. We can find the list of Directories in top search engines.
Many Directories needs to be activated after submission of URL, We need to submit an Email-ID in which incoming emails from the Directory webmaster will be activated.
There should be regular checkup in the major Directories for the inclusion of URL; sometimes the major sites delete the URL if they are not followed up.
Search Engine Submission: The URL of the site must be submitted in Search Engines. Search Engines play the major role in increasing the PR of any site. The main Search Engines are Google, AOL, Yahoo and MSN.
Every Search Engine is having an Add-URL page from which we can submit the URL of the site.
In most of the cases of Search Engines we have to activate the URL of the submission sent by the admin or webmaster of site.
The regular lookup of submission of URL should be maintained as in many cases the Search Engines delete the submitted URL; we have to resubmit the URL for indexing.
