Default Domain age and "sandbox"

Hi!

I have a website that is in "sandbox" for about 8 months now. I read in some articles that "sandbox" is triggered by competitive keywords and ofcourse age of domain + some mambo jambo how it is a good thing since it prevents "bad" websites to get on top.

Couple days ago I used something called wayback machine that shows you the past of domain name and website that was on that domain at the time. This was my face when I saw that my domain was actually first registered in 2000. I checked all websites that were on that domain and did not see any blackhat. So site was not banned. Nothing that google could be punishing.

My questions are:
If sandbox has anything to do with domain age why am I in it?

Lately I noticed some google results coming in but they are mostly from image search and every now and than maybe a rare keyword pops up. So is this a sign that sandbox is coming to end or I still have time to sit back and relax?

Sorry for my english, not my first language.

hunden

Default "Sandbox" and "Aging Delay"

Hello Hunden,

"Sandbox" is used by one large search engine(Google) as a probation period for new sites.

It's not possible to make any comment without doing propar analysis of your site.

But i am trying here to address some issues related to "Sandbox" and "Aging Delay"

"My questions are:
If sandbox has anything to do with domain age why am I in it?"

Many site owners and SEOs are worried because their new sites that rank well in Yahoo and MSN, aren't doing well in Google, and they're blaming it on the "sandbox." The current theory is that new sites are somehow being penalized for obtaining too many links, too quickly.

It sounds like a logical possibility. However, many of us who don't buy volume links or participate in linking networks are seeing the same ranking delays. New resource sites with a few good relevant links are taking just as long to climb Google's ranks as the instant link pop sites. I think a lot of people are confusing the sandbox, with an "aging filter".

I haven't seen any brand new sites with new domains appear at the top of the search engine results pages (SERP) since early in 2004. There seems to be a delay of about 6-8 months.

Why an Aging Delay?

I belive in theory is that the age factor for new sites is Google's answer
to mini-networks and other multi-site strategies intended to
artificially inflate link popularity. Many people divide what should
be a single site into multiple sites in order to capitalize on the
links that are exchanged between them. Others build a series of small
sites that are only designed to add link popularity to the main site.

By delaying the ranking of brand-new sites, the mini-network strategy
becomes more of a long-term strategy than a quick jump to the top.

So, here Domain Age is important factor.

You are not in "SandBox" if you did not do any bad activities like link spamming and etc.

and it's highly posiblity for "Aging Delay".

If you want propar analysis than please provide following details :

1. Your Site Name
2. Your Keyword List
3. Age Of your Pages ( when you make pages) because i will find age of domain with some tools
4. are you buying links ? etc.
