Is pr (page rank) any good these days

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I see that a lot of people buy links and the higher the page rank is the more costly the links are, but what I want to know is why?

Is page rank really worth anything these days?

Your toolbar PageRank has nothing to do with your ranking.

The PageRank algorithm analyzes the quality and quantity of links that point to a page. That’s it.

But if you have HighPage Rank than it's become easy(fast) to exchange links with lots of sites. because if you have not good PR than no one will exchange links with you.

Is it not any good for selling links? if it is what should the price be a month for links on different PR website

It is also good to sell link space yes. If you have a high page rank, you can sell space in your page so others can post their links there. Other than that , these days, pagerank as shown on Google Toolbar and other such softwares are not reliable indicators anymore.

I have to agree with all off you on this, people do not seem to realise these days that google page rank isnt worth anything bar from selling a text link. people say that if you get on a website with high page rank theen it can help you rank your website, but they have to also make sure that the page has realated content else it really wouldnt be worth anything for them.

Page rank is only one aspect of how important your page is and therefor how high up the serps your site will come. A more relevant site will often beat a similar site with higher rank.

With the last update page rank has become more confusing. On a site of mine, all pages that previously had no rank got given higher ranks that my front page which didn't gain in rank at all which makes me worry about the validity of this rank as being relevant to the importance of the page.

pagerank only sells your web site well or may be newbie's will see this thing good, else it is nothing to do withe the quality and traffic, the thing matter is the traffic which comes with good content and lots of backlinks

then why google or other search engines allot page rank to sites if its not so important?

When you pull up a Google search, pages with the highest page rank will come out first. That is when it becomes important, other than the link exchanges.
