| Member Level 1 | Hello Someone told me, and I'm trying to paraphrase, that with .htaccess, a page will not physically exist on a webpage. The page gets dynamically create by .htaccess support. As such, search enginer spiders treat it as a normal static page. If you use .htaccess, you can easily save a lot of web space and also rank could possibly improve on search engines. If this is true, and I run a sitemap on the page, will the pages get picked up in the map? Please advise

| Back Office Guy- ![]() | yes and not, really depends on how you generate your sitemaps. Using .htaccess does not generate a page, it can drag elements of the url and return them in a usefull way ie url of index.php?go=here can be written as index/here .htaccess will then interperate index/here into index.php?go=here behind the scenes, problems will occur if the .htaccess is not written right Also to corrected my self the url revamp is dont via modrewrite with htaccess. htaccess does actually do a bunch of other stuff also

| Member Level 2 | .htaccess file is of great use, it can generate search engine friendly URLs, for example, there is a directory script, phpLinkDirectory, in which you can generate SE friendly URLs with just one click. Here is an example. It was also advice by my SEO company, seo experts, to put SE friendly URLs in my Joke site which is using Prozilla Joke script. However, I am not sure how to do it in Prozilla Joke script. If anyone know how to do it in Prozilla Joke script, please shoot me a PM and we can work something out. | ||
