Default Citroen C3 replacement stereo trips electric?

    Hi,

I have just bought a Citroen C3 (03 reg) and want to replace the stereo with my JVC from my old car.

I have managed to install it and it fits great, only thing is it messes with the electrics. It can play music through the speakers fine, and the unit works as normal.

Randomly (every 10-20 seconds) there is a "click" from the glove box, assuming its coming from the fuse box, then the stereo gets power and continues playing. It keep playing and going off and on continually until i remove the stereo's faceplate turning it off.

I really like this stereo and want it to work. Is this a sigh of a faulty fuse or is my stereo incompatible? (JVC KD-SH1000)

    Chris

I've just bought a c3 (04) and have the same problem.
Did you ever solve it? Was it an expensive trip to the dealership?

Hi, I'm sorry, it looks like none of us were able to help out on that problem. I would like to take this chance to welcome you to the forum though. I hope you become a regular user, with any luck we will find an answer to your question. Welcome to MKpitstop.

I "sort of" fixed the problem. On one of the cables from the stereo there is a large black box. This had a yellow cable. There should be a spare red cable (mine had a Y split on the red so i used this)

This worked for 3 months then my battery went flat. AA Said there was a .7 mili amp drain when the ignition was off (and had been for 30 minutes). I took it to a garage and it appears that the stereo was "faulty". But i contacted a in car entertainment specialist and he said this is a common problem with C3s and for £40 they will do some rewiring and fit it properly.

I haven't gone ahead with this yet, but am not suer if i will. Ideally i would like my dash display to work as it is a nice feature of the car. If you do find one that will work with the display i would love to hear it.

Does anyone know where i can purchase an "upgraded" version of the same model that will play mp3s. Can stock parts be interchanged with stock parts from similar model cars?

It would be nice to hear how you get on with this.

    Chris
