    Default new hard drive problem

Hi, I have just fitted a new western digital 500gb sata hard drive, as extra storage. The existing hard drive is the boot drive for windows.
The motherboard is a ASUS P5KC.
The new drive shows up in the bios, & also is in the device manager, but it does not show up in my computer, so is unusable.
When i go into device manager, click on device volumes it says not initalized.
Any ideas on how to get it showing in my computer.
On the motherboard it has 4 sata inputes 1&2 boot,3&4 slave, i have connected it to 4 slave.
    Please help.

Go to control panel, then administrative tools, then create format hard disk drives.
You should see your drive as unknown not initaialized, right click new simple volume & follow the wizard. Then it will format the disk, & it will show up in windows.
There may be another way as i am no expert, but it worked for me.
