    Default Are directories outdated?

It seems like most people don't really bother browsing directories anymore - is there really any point to continuing submitting your sites to them? Backlinks are always nice, but now that Google strictly evaluates link quality I don't think directories generally offer much SEO benefit, either. Thoughts?

I'm a huge fan of niche directories or targeted directories. For example, if I were looking for information on MS, I might go to a site that had an MS directory (more than link exchange, an actual directory) and be more likely to frequent those. But I find general directories to only direct traffic of people who are in the directories to try to get traffic. Others may have a better experience.

I myself don't bother with directories. Whenever I search, I just use a search bar and the top 3 results will always give me what I need.
I was born with nothing, and I still have most of it.

Like minx said, I love niche directories. I really do not like general directories all that much. When I browse, I like having several resources on my topic, its educational as well as enjoyable I am currently working on my very first directory right now. It is still in the stage that I haven't quite gotten the categories sorted, but I think I will be proud of it once I get it ready for viewing. I have already had three spam submissions to the thing and I havent even made an announcement for it. Dagnab jerk spammers. GRRRRRR.

sorry abit off topic there :o

Yes, you are right.Soon web directories will be out dated and Social bookmarking sites will take place of them.People use link directories for submitting sites only.None of them search them for desired websites.
