| I've got Windows Vista Ultimate and filesharing enabled correctly. I have a problem though. My xbox, it's modded so I can stream media from the pc. It won't connect to Vista past the it sees vista screen. i tell the xbox to browse my workgroup and it does see both my xp pc and vista pc. It will connect fine to the xp home pc. It won't connect to Vista. The XP PC will connect to Vista just fine as will Vista to the xbox and xp home pc. The only problem is xbox won't connect to Vista. I see the name of the xp home pc and Vista pc listed. I click on the Vista pc and it won't go further. Works fine connecting to the xp home pc. What in the world is wrong with connecting the xbox to Vista? the only way it will connect is by media sharing. I enable media sharing in Vista. On the xbox I select the uPnP servers and go in there. It sees Vista. I click on Vista and it goes to the media sharing folders in Vista and can stream that way. But normal filesharing/browsing the lan via the workgroup the xbox sees Vista, but it won't do anything. Not a password issue since it won't do anything at all. When streaming music using the media sharing though it plays all out of order. Changing the view by in the xbox makes no different. Name, file etc won't make them play in order. Browsing normally via the workgroup connecting to the xp home pc has no issues. All music is in order and plays fine. Just in Vista connecting in media sharing from my xbox, music won't play in order at all. | |||

| Hard to tell, except I would look to whatever antivirus program you're running on the Vista machine. Anything Norton (Symantec), McAfee, or Zone Alarm will block the access of the Xbox 360 unless you specifically set that program to allow the 360. The other thing is, the Xbox 360 isn't necessarily "smart" where accessing a PC is concerned. Unlike a PC, which can support up to five Extenders, the Xbox 360 can only access a single PC at a time. You might try removing the XP PC and then set up the Vista machine. -- Chris H. I need an ftp program that does passv or whatever to connect to the xbox. Also I'm not entirely sure how to delete everything related to xbmc on the xbox now and install this newer build fresh. that confuses me. i can just overwrite the xbmc folder, but not sure if that's enough. | |||
